The Nike Vaporfly Next% 2 is coming soon

When the original Nike Vaporfly Next% was released back in April 2019 as part of the Breaking2 project, it caused a media storm, breaking race speed records across the board with its innovative carbon plate and ZoomX foam.

Since then Nike has released numerous colourways and smaller batches to retain the demand, and runners of all abilities from around the world have swooped to get their hands on them to improve their PB’s in 5k’s through to Marathon distances.

Well, Nike is gearing up to release a sequel with the obligatory upgrades. From the looks of it, nothing groundbreaking, but minor improvements to an already superb shoe.

Additional medial toe reinforcement

At first glance, the design is very similar to the original. The Nike Vaporfly Next% 2 now carries a soft, partially see-through mesh, similar to or the same as the AtomKnit upper seen in the AlphaFly Next%, no doubt improving the breathability and comfort of the shoe. The toe box has also been reinforced with a panel along the toe box and small strip on the medial side.

There is still the same offset lace system which is a bit of a love or hate thing amongst its owners. The Nike Vaporfly Next% 2 looks like it has retained the stack heights of 40 and 32mm, meaning a heel drop of 8mm once again.

We can likely expect the ZoomX foam and Nike signature carbon fibre plate to see some adjustments, but only time will tell how much they’ve crammed into this new version.

Rumours have it that the retail price will be around £235 / $320.

For a look at the upcoming VaporFly NEXT% 2. If you’re hoping to try these out, sit tight; these beauties will be available from Nike.com as well as select retailers within the coming months.
